On which legal basis do we rely on for processing your data?

The law on data protection requires us to explain the legal grounds on which we collect and process your personal data. We rely on the following two bases:
  • Contractual obligations – when you book an event, a course or a workshop you are asked to accept our Terms and Conditions and these establish a contract between you and us. We will organise and run the event / course / workshop. We need some of your personal data to fulfil our contractual obligations.
  • Legitimate interest – we will send you invitations to tango events similar to those you have previously attended, and we make sure such communications do not materially impact your rights, freedom or interests. We will always give you the opportunity to opt-out of any such marketing activity.

When do we collect your personal data?
We only collect personal data from you when you give it to us by interacting with our website (www.tangofeast.com and www.vidadetango.com), when you engage with us on social media, when you attend one of our events or speak to us on the telephone.
Typical examples are when you book to attend an event, or when you attend one of our events without prior booking and then give us your name and contact details.

What information do we collect and why?
The information we may collect includes:
  • Your first and last name – so we know who you are
  • Your email address – so we can confirm your booking, send you updates on the event you have booked and invite you to similar events
  • Your phone number (optional) – so we can contact you in case of problems
  • The city where you live – so we know in which area you normally dance
  • Your gender and whether you’d rather dance as a Follower or Leader – to help us manage the gender/role balance of our events
  • Details of your dancing experience and level – so we can make sure you attend classes that are appropriate to your experience

In addition to the personal data you give us, when you attend one of our events we and our official photographers will take videos and/or photographs, which will be used for promotional purposes, including, but not limited to, photos and videos displayed on the event websites, slideshow showed at events and social media. If you for any reason do not wish to be included in any footage please inform us at the time of booking by emailing info@tangofeast.com.

How do we protect your data?
We know data security matters to you. So we will treat it with the utmost care and take all appropriate steps to protect it.
We secure the booking form of our website using ‘https’ technology. The data you give us is stored on Google Drive and access to it is restricted.

How long do we keep your data?
Whenever we collect or process your personal data, we’ll only keep it for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Email addresses will cease to be used for marketing purposes if you choose to unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe your email address will go onto a suppression list so we can comply with your requirements. Email addresses on suppression lists will be kept for the life of the business.

With whom will we share your data?
We never sell, rent or pass your data to other companies for their marketing purposes. Where we need to share your data with other companies we only provide them with the personal information they need to carry out specific services. We will have an agreement with them to ensure:
  • They too comply with the requirements or equivalent standards of the General Data Protection Regulations even if they are operating outside Europe.
  • They only use your data for the purposes we specify in our agreement with them.
  • They only retain your data for as long as is necessary after which it will be deleted.
For example, when we send you emails we use the services of a third-party email service provider, MailChimp.

Where your personal data may be processed
By far the majority of your persona data is held on the servers of Google Drive and MailChimp. Both services are based in the US and are certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield Scheme. This means they have adequate levels of privacy protection, in line with UK data protection law.
